“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

About Us

We are two best friends with a shared dream for the unconventional and a goal of seeing as much of the world as we can. After several years of grinding away at our desk jobs, we have both decided to take a huge risk – to leave our jobs and spend as much time as we can traveling.

Our Plan

We will set out from Lincoln, Nebraska on June 27, 2020 and head west armed with our van, camping gear, and other supplies. We will drive approximately four hours a day, stopping as frequently as we want. Our days will be spent seeing friends and trying new things and our nights will be spent camping wherever we are welcomed.

Why Unearthing Fernweh?

Fernweh is a German word that means “An intense yearning for places not yet visited.” This word has become a driving force behind this experiment. Our hope is to lean into this desire for places we have not seen and let it fuel our sense of adventure and curiosity for the unknown.
